"When you are in danger, sing for the small beast of wood and snow, my child. It will keep you safe from all who wish you harm. A saying elders tell children in the north to appease their fear of lurking danger."

The north has always been known for its heartless condition. Only a few human villages manage to live in such harsh climates, and those who do always take the risk of ending their lives in combat between tribes or worse in the belly of a starving creature. With such dangerous surroundings, parents teach their children early on a lullaby to sing to themselves when they are in danger.

Such melodies lure a curious little fox-like creature with small wooden horns called Mukunafuyu. This ball of fluff looks, at first glance, harmless and pretty weak, but behind its cute little size hides a fearsome predator.

Being a cunning creature, it decided to become a hidden protector of human litters, using children's frail appearance to lure prey toward them without the need to waste time tracking potential meals. As centuries passed, the Mukunafuyu started to develop a certain affection toward its lures. Keeping them safe, not just to keep their hunger at bay, but also to keep such innocence away from harm.

When the creature hears the melody of the child, it would go to it, looking cute and cuddly, analysing the situation. Predators who dare go for one of the children in its presence would feel its wrath and hunger. The attacker barely has the time to notice the cute little ball of fluff before getting caught in the fox-like trap.

The very moment the predator comes in close contact with the child, the cute little ball of fluff would shape into a giant beast with long wooden horns and catch them. They would then start swallowing the prey into their gullet, filling their belly with anticipation. Leaving no trace of the one that tried to harm one of the little humans in its care.
